Have you had a good year, so far?

I'd like to say I had a good year, but I can't.

I had some troubles of vocation and fear to fail very often this year. But it wasn't too bad because I always had some people telling me to keep going and don't give up too soon, that I wasn't alone and it’s normal fail or repeat subjects (even when I don't know if I have to repeat them yet).

That's one of the good things that happened to me this year, I learned that, as also I learned to share with people (that’s very hard for me because I'm very shy) and obviously, I learned more this year on classes, way easier, fact that made me happy.

Some situations that haven't worked well is most of exams that I had, where I completely fail, even when in controls I was doing it great; or some practical classes were I did wrong some experiments. I'm trying to learn of mistakes I did, and keep positive about what happened.

I think that my best achievement this year was have a better attendance in classes and taking more time for studying, things that before I didn't do.

So, despite much things that came wrong this year (there are more but I don't want to mention them), it wasn't as bad as last year, but still without reach the "good year" qualification. Hope it can change in the next 4 months, but I don't think so.

Pets

In this free theme post, I'm going to talk about my pets.

I have 3 dogs right now, 3 female dogs, the older (15 years old) is called Lady. She's a Cocker Spaniel. I do not like her because she hated me when I was a child, and she was closer to my grandma, she's too lazy right now because of that age (she's 98 years old in human age).

My other dog is Lizzy, she's my girl because I received her in a period that I left my grandma house and Lady stayed living with her. She was just a little puppy when she came to my life, and were just in time, in the new house (because my mom was at work most of time). She's 6 years old right now, her breed and origin is doubtful but, I know that her mom is an English Cocker Spaniel. She's very loyal with me.

And, my third dog is Charlotte (or Baby as we called her in home). She's 2 and half years old. She's tiny because her breed is Poodle Toy. She's very fluffy and jealous. and the favorite of my grandma because Charlotte is very affective and "fresh" with her. (She lays on my grandma's bed without invitation)

My favourite subject in the career II.

I have already wrote about my favorite subject in the university so now I am going to write about my second favorite subject in university.

My second favorite subject in the university is Chemical Laboratory Technique. I like the subject because here I'm learning every I haven't learned in high school. In high school I hadn't chemistry with laboratories so I was fearing about start this career without know nothing, not even elements of laboratory. But when I went to the first class of Chemistry Laboratory technique, teachers taught me about everything, since the littlest things like names of glass materials, precautions you need to follow in class.

Also I like because is a practice subject, you do real chemistry with your hands and glass materials. But also there is a cathedra before every practice, so you know what exactly need to calculate or do.

In this class you learn all basics of laboratory, like materials you use, how to do extractions, distillations, weigh reagent, do a correct use and standing of materials, and precautions you need to know.

In big aspects, is absolutely complementary with chemistry, is the same class but practical.

My favourite site about chemistry.

Since my university days I knew that classes are not enough for learning, so I decided to search some Youtube channels about chemistry to don't stop my learning in university to then arrive home to forget everything.

I searched a lot of sites but none were as explanatory as "Friends of Chemistry" (Amigos de la Química). The teacher of the website is a very good one, because her Spanish is actually from Spain and I understand everything what she says because of her modulation. A bad thing of this site is that classes are not much, but it really helped me in the first semester of this year, her inorganic nomenclature gave me a 7 in a control!! (well, I don't studied just at this site, also I visited Chemical Formulation to complement). I visit this site when I have any chemistry exam or I need to study, I can say I visit this site one time for week.

Some sections of this site will help to first weeks of General Chemistry II classes. This site is like literally go to classes because it haves the same sections of General Chemistry I, almost in the same order. It haves videos of periodic properties, nomenclature, Lewis structure, stoichiometry, chemistry cinetic, etc.

My favourite subject in the career

I would be lying if I say that my favourite subject is Chemistry, you would think it if you hear that i'm studying pharmacy, but isn't.

My favourite subject of the life is Biology. Also I love Physics, but is so hard to me understand, I love the way they explore and study the universe trying to explain everything on it. But, biology is more understandable to me, so it's on my top.

In the university, the subject I most like is "Pharmaceutical Chemist and his action".

It's balanced between practice and theory. Yes, you have to study some "ppts" and terms and theoric things about what does a pharmacist, but you see them on their work, making this subject as practice too.

Is great because isn't overcrowded (we are like 30 students) and you feel close to what you see, not like Chemistry that we are like one hundred persons and you barely know the teacher. Here you find different teachers to different sections: presentations of pharmacist, visits, terminology and debate (i don't like this section).

I love the existence of this subject because it reminds you why you choose pharmacy instead any career, and shows you, from first year, the reality of this career and his job as professional.

A photograph I like~

As the title says, I'm going to talk about a photograph I like.

I used to love waste my free time seeing amateur photographs in Flickr, a long ago I don't do it.

I remember an ex-classmate who, a long ago, uploaded photos in that platform. Seeing behind her gallery, she took photos of some spaces we used to share (even when we weren't in the same class) and it reminds me my primary school days, when everything was easier than now.

Her photo was very simple, it was a public phone hanging off, but this phone was one I used to see all days on my way to school, it was took on some street on Independencia.
Because of routine of see that phone all days, it brings me some memories. Even when I still saying until today that I hate that school and a lot of things that happened there, I can’t forget that there I met my best friend who still with me today and some people and experiences who made me be the person who I am now.

My favourite movie

I think my always loved movie is "Submarine", based on the book of John Dunthorne. I saw it for first time when I was 14 years old, the same age of the main character. What more I loved then was the soundtrack made by Alex Turner, and the places where the movie happens, not too bright and simply (for a person who lives close to the sea). I can't tell if my life was like the main character's life, but I had the same thinks that he had, one of them: expecting that things go in the way that romantic movies makes you expect, victory for the main character, etc. Fortunately, I've grow up, you need to remember the age I had when I saw it for first time. Now this is just a funny way to see the life.

The last movie (to be exactly, short film) I saw was "It's such a beautiful day" by Don Hertzfeldt, it wasn't funny or something, it's about a guy lonely and ill and his daily life. I only saw it because I like the kind of short films made of stop-motion, this case specially because it also had scenes a mix between draws and backgrounds of real spaces (real green grass, real streets, with draws on it) I don't recommend it, unless you like that non-sense artistic wave.

I don't have any favourite gender, but if "oscar nominated" movies were one, I think that would have been my favourite few years ago, I like independent movies, the last movie I saw of this gender was "Ladybird". Also I can't lie about the fact that I like Marvel movies and even, Pixar movies.

MY favourite piece of technology.

My favourite piece of technology is my smartphone.

I got my current smartphone about 2 years ago (since someone stolen my last phone) but I've had phones since 4th grade if I remind well.

I used to use my phone (now called smartphone) to listen music, take blurred pictures, and play some games on it. But technology has gone so far, that now I can do things on my phone that I used to do on my laptop, like watch series and movies, read books in PDF format, stay in contact with my friends using apps to send them messages and memes, read the newspaper, etc. The difference is that with a smartphone you can do those things in a comfortable way and wherever you want.

Years ago, I couldn't imagine that having a phone would be so necessary, but now in the university I've noticed how essential is have a smartphone, or stay in constant connection to internet. For example, you need it to know your grades, upload homework, know about news about classes (ex: if teacher suddenly died), etc.

I use it all days, I like it because I can travel with it and use it wherever I go, because it's small.

My life would be ever more boring than now if smartphones doesn't exist, but without it I would look for a mp4 to replace it, and bring my camera with me (even when it’s heavy), because the most important part of smartphones for me is listen music wherever I go and take pictures of everything, but I appreciate other functions because make my life easier and funnier.

My Autobiography???

Hi people in level 3 English class, my name is Úrsula Jáuregui. I’m daughter of Erika Abraham and Luis Jáuregui and I was born in November, 1997, on San José Hospital (if I can remember well my mom’s stories). I’m 20 years old right now.

I studied elementary school in Liceo Rosa Ester Alessandri Rodríguez, I started to hate that place when one of my friend left (she was 3 years older than me). With my best friend, we had the great idea of leave that school so, when I was 15 years old, I went to do the high school in Liceo Tajamar de Providencia with my best friend since 2004. Unlucky, we got in different classes for one year, but after that year we got together again.

I liked Tajamar’s schedule then, because classes were until 1-2pm and I started a new life there with new people. Now I'm studying in the university (Universidad de Chile) to become a pharmacist, I'm on first year (again). Things are going better this year than last year, I think I’m happier now, and that’s pushing me to study and keep a mind healty.

My family is weird, I live with my grandmother, uncle (he’s like my father) and my 3 blessings, my dogs: Lady, Lizzy and Bebé. I don’t like to talk about my mom, dad and sister. I don’t really mind live without them because my grandmother and uncle give me everything I need.

In my free time, I used to play all day, between Heroes of the storm and Overwatch because I had (and still having) good friends there. Now I have less free time so I usually use that time for sleeping, watch The Simpsons while I do handmades, or dating with my boyfriend.

Expectations about blog sessions.

This is the first session in CIQ, and the topic of this class is write about our expectations about blog sessions and answer some questions about.

Talking about English skills, for me, reading and writing are easier skills than speaking and listening. It doesn’t mean that I absolutely don’t know how to speak and listen English sentences, but they’re harder for me because in school I only had writing tests. Also I’m shy, and sometimes, even Spanish is hard to talk for me. So that’s why speaking and listening skills are harder to do for me.

About blogs, I think is a good way to improve writing skills, because writing on paper is boring, the same thing that most of us have been doing for years, but in blogs we are closer to the technology what we use every day. In those blogs, I think that including topics like things we do in a common day (ex: listen music, read a book, what and why we study in our career, etc) would be fine, and not harder to write and explain as an internet search about unknown topics would be.
